Service to Armed Forces

The Red Cross provides military support by: Military Case Worker

  • American Red Cross military case workers are available 24 hours a day.

  • Ensuring members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families receive timely and reliable emergency communications, emergency financial assistance, and case management services, 24 hours a day, worldwide.

  • Delivering pre-deployment briefings to inform members of U.S Armed Forces and their families of their resources while on active duty.  

The Services to the Armed Forces program is pleased to announce the award of another Grant for Fiscal Year 2011.  We will be continuing many of last year’s programs:
• Operation Canteen (troop return support)
• Honor Flight (WWII veterans return to D.C. for one day)
• Youth Programs for Yellow Ribbon Meetings
• Volunteer Support to the VA Hospital

 

This year we will be piloting new programs:
• CPR/FA and Babysitting/BAT courses to families of deployed troops
• VETSROLL (WWII and Korean veterans bussed to D.C. war memorials)
• Veterans Clubs to open at local colleges/universities
• Transplant Outreach Program VA Hospital
• Building continued volunteer and departmental support to the VA Hospital

What is the role of Red Cross workers with the military in time of conflict?
My relative is in the military and I need to speak with him/her as soon as possible due to a family emergency. Can the Red Cross help to locate this person?
Does the Red Cross have financial assistance for family members of soldiers?
Can the Red Cross grant leave or emergency leave?
Can the Red Cross assist me in requesting that my husband be granted leave for the birth of our child?
I am currently in the middle of a divorce with my spouse who is in the Armed Forces. Does the Red Cross offer any type of legal aid or advice?
My relative is currently in the Armed Forces and I have not heard from him/her in over a month. Can the Red Cross help contact this person so I know everything is all right?
I would like to write letters and/or send care packages to the soldiers in Iraq and/or Afghanistan. What do I need to do?
