Emergency Services

The American Red Cross Badger Chapter responds to 85 to 100 disasters each year in Adams, Columbia, Crawford, Dane, Grant, Iowa, Juneau, Lafayette, Richland, Sauk Counties. A dedicated team of trained volunteers and paid staff are there to help when disaster strikes a family or a community.

Although fire is the most frequent disaster we respond to, trained Red Cross volunteers respond immediately to explosions, storms, wildfires, tornadoes, floods and a variety of other disasters.

Disasters come in all shapes and sizes, but are equally traumatic to the person experiencing the loss. One cannot compare a community crisis to the loss of one house - not if it's your house that is suddenly and tragically gone. The despair is the same. So is the need for aid.

Immediately following a disaster, the Red Cross is on scene providing relief to those who need it in the form of food, clothing, shelter, medicine, mental health counseling and essential household items. In addition to the services we provide, we make referrals to government and private agencies that can further assist you in the recovery process.

All disaster assistance is provided free of charge and is a gift from the American people who donate to support the American Red Cross and the people we serve.
